Pantelleria Nikà

THE MEDITERRANEAN IN YOUR BACKYARD

The dammuso Nikà Bay: an experience of the soul

The Dammuso “Nikà Bay” is among the most beautiful properties on the island of Pantelleria. We are in a dominant position on the charming harbour of porticciolo di Nikà, 20 metres above sea level with the immense blue of the Mediterranean sea being all you have in front of you. Next to it, the famous bay of hot thermal springs.

The property is immersed inthe ancient black stones and lush Mediterranean maquis, perfectly blending in. At one with the island's nature, the space is an evocative oasis of peace where human intervention only serves to enhance the spectacular context with sobriety and balance.

Staying at the dammuso in Baia di Nikà is a relaxing and exciting experience at the same time. The lights of the African sunsets ignite the colours of the sea and the surrounding nature, so every day is a new sight. In the evening, the sky turns into endless velvet adorned with the brightest stars. An experience of the soul..

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

The property is accessed from the perimeter road. Following the old unpaved but driveable mule track, you reach the private car park next to the house. The house overlooks the sea and lies at the end of a downhill road paved with uneven stones. You can reach it by renting a small off-road vehicle (Suzuki, Daihatsu, Panda 4×4, or similar), which may also help you explore the fascinating island.

If you prefer renting a standard car instead, you must leave it at the car park before the descent (400 m). Please, be aware that the operator who welcomed you will not be able to transport any luggage on the journey back.

Since the owners of the dammuso reside in Mantua, a select operator on the island will handle the check-in at your arrival .

THE DAMMUSO AND ITS ART

A wooden gate leads to the first terrace. Here we find a comfortable reading/napping area with large cushions shaded by a pergola of palm leaves and the entrance to the dammuso. Welcoming us is a comfortable lounge-study room enriched by the work of Japanese artist Hiromi Masuda. Further on, we find the bedroom with reproductions of photographs by Canadian artist Gregory Colbert . Finally, we enter the fully equipped kitchen overlooking a panoramic terrace shaded by a second palm-leaf pergola. Here a large table is ready to host unforgettable dinners by the sea..

The first building is surrounded by terraces and small gardens;corners with cushions, puffs and a barbecue area are set up between the walkways; an outdoor shower

completes the exterior. A few steps between the gleaming lava stone walls lead to another terrace where a second dammuso houses a comfortable master bedroom and bathroom with reproductions of magnificent photographs by Karl Blossfeldt. Outside , two works by artists from our gallery in Mantua: Eduard Habicher (Merano) and Magdalena Fernandez (Caracas – Venezuela).
